The motor design utilized within the immersion blender referenced Dyson’s vacuum motor, which uses air to move the attachment rather than physical contact between two moving parts, limiting wear and tear, whilst also reducing the amount of power required for the blending process. Many testing methods, materials and manufacturing processes were assessed and implemented influencing the eventual outcome. The process included rigorous stress tests (FMEA tests), the assessment of injection molding ABS, and its affect on the on the structural support, whilst also improving the internal components to not only improve the life of the product but to improve the user’s interaction.
